There IS life after menopause! The light at the end of the tunnel!

Hello! Firstly let me apologise for the delay in getting this post out to you all! I have been away and have been sorting my "sh1t" out! Since I got back from Montreux I had an amazing realisation. It was such a great realisation that I knew I had to share it with you! revelation [rɛvəˈleɪʃ(ə)n] So what was this amazing revelation? Are you ready? I AM ON THE WINNING SIDE OF POST MENOPAUSE! I never thought I would feel like pre perimenopausal Janie ever again! I was walking around Zurich on a very hot day when it first started to dawn on me that life was looking up. I realised that despite the intense heat, I wasn't over heating and had walked miles without feeling fatigued or , dare I say it, almost unwell like had hit me before. Whilst showering that evening to get ready for supper, I reflected on my day. It hit me that I'd not had any hot flushes all day and that , in fact, I had hardly had any for a while. I had previously taken my own advice on h...

GUEST BLOGGER KAZ MOLLOY DISCUSSES THE "WOMB CANCER SCANDAL". A MUST READ FOR ALL WOMEN. AGE IS NO DISCRIMINATOR.

Guest Blogger Kaz Molloy writes about the great “ womb cancer scandal ” for Savvy ‘n’ Sassy readers today. Her message is powerful, and a must read for all women, young and older alike. Her words are from the heart. She has survived womb cancer but it has left a profound effect on her life. Please read and please, please share. It is easy to hide and not look at articles like this because we get scared. There is no need to be scared. Knowledge is a life saver. Who wouldn't want to know about the most common but sadly under discussed symptoms  of womb cancer? I was diagnosed with womb cancer at the end of Dec 2009, aged 46. I had never heard of it and knew nothing about it. I didn’t know that it was the most common gynaecological cancer and that it can affect women of all ages.   After my treatment ended I decided to do something about the lack of support out there for women who had been diagnosed with womb cancer and also about the lack of awareness there was about ...

LOOKING AFTER 0VER 50s SUMMER HAIR! sTAY GLOSSY NOT FLOSSY!

Hey! How are you today? More to the point how's your hair?! mine has certainly been suffering form the lovely sunshine we have been having. I turn into Monica Geller in Barbados which to be fair isn't my best look! Today's blog is all about keeping those locks of ours glossy and not flossy . Don't worry you don't to go through any so called "hair rituals" or anything. Its more about choosing the right products for the job and being savvy about looking after your mane!! TOP TIPS! 1 . We know to slather ourselves in UV protection to save our skin but how often do we remember that our hair also needs UV protection? Ever burnt your parting line?  You may have found out it can burn quickly and be rather painful. Now clearly we cant go to Aldi or the cinema, or wherever, with our hair greased up with suntan lotion. Fear not though, there are plenty of products on the market that can help.  Try: Solait Head and Hair Protect SPF30. Its really affordable...

TOP REASONS WHY WOMEN OVER 50 SHOULD WATCH THEIR ALCOHOL INTAKE!

H ey! TOP REASONS WOMEN OVER 50 SHOULD WATCH THEIR ALCOHOL INTAKE! How are you today? I am sweltering, but not complaining. I am loving the sunshine and light evenings. Are you planning a cheeky bottle of vino in the garden later after work? Huffington Post I don't know about you but when I hear people discussing heavy drinking I always think of young men and women , absolutely arseholed plastered in a small town on a Saturday night. I see blue lights flashing as the police endeavour to keep everyone safe and there are always men walking around without their shirts on and women flashing their undies, shouting abuse at each other.  DailyStar.co.uk  Then, the other day I saw a brief headline alluding to the the fact that the real group of drinkers who are of concern are us women who are over 50 and referred to rather cheekily as " older drinkers "! How rude! But, I thought I'd better check out if this was true as after all it affects us if it is and we ma...

HOW TO PICK FASHION COLOURS AS WE GET OLDER!

Well hello there! OMG how stunning is the weather right now? I have to confess to being an absolute lover of the heat and am even planning a hot destination for the Christmas break because I really don't like being cold! I hope you are all coping and managing to sleep through the hot nights. Whether we like it or not we are what fashionistas might refer to as "older women".  Unfortunately, many older women get stuck in style ruts and are still wearing what they wore ten or fifteen years ago, or dare I say it, sometimes form the 80s! Now this is fine of you are happy doing that but in truth what we used to wear doesn't really work as we go through the decades!. For example, our skin tone changes subtly as does our hair colour. Colours that used to work for us almost certainly don't know. A case in point being that I could wear quite acidic colours in my 40s, now they make look like the undertaker has been making me up!  Our choice of clothes reflect who we...

WHY I HATE THE PHRASE "BEACH BODY READY"! MORE BODY SHAMING!

Well hello there! I hope that you are really well today. I'm feeling feisty this morning, so it's the perfect day to write about a real bug bear of mine - the phrase "Beach Body Ready" ! As far as I am concerned it needs BANNING! courtesy of little things I am increasingly frustrated by the constant attack on the bodies of women. Most of it is driven by corporate greed. (there is a pun there, think about it!). Let's be serious , women spend gazillions every year to try and be "perfect". Of course, the dream is never delivered and to top it off we then carry on spending bazillions more on the latest new product just to be disappointed again. I, guess here there is a theme.... its all about disappointment. What is it that sends women into a frenzy when they book a holiday? I thought a holiday was meant to be a time to relax, a time to have a change from the norm, a time for new experiences. And that is what it should be, not a stress fest. I...

Body has been exhausted and brain full of fog and this time I cant blame the menopause! I t's all my own fault to be honest . Before I tell you my Top 5 YT Fitness Vloggers, there needs to be a little context! In my infinite wisdom I decided to do a crash diet. Now before you gasp and clasp your pearls there's a good reason! I watched a documentary on TV about how crash diets had modernised and were a great way to kickstart weight loss and get super healthy, super quick. Tests showed that people rid themselves of type 2 diabetes etc in just a couple of weeks. Now I don't have any of those issues thankfully, but, I am Mrs Impatient, so I thought it would be a great idea.....you know, safely kickstart some weight loss and get motivated!
