BEING A MODEL AT 55!

H ey! How are you? Thanks for visiting today. I hope you will be inspired to go out and achieve your dreams after reading todays blog where I tell you about my day as a model! Last year in Corfu I was scrambling over rocks, up a mountain in high temperatures! As I was getting an adrenalin buzz I thought "flipping heck I’m 55 and can do an awful lot more than many people half my age”. That random thought lead to a thread on the SAVVY 'N' SASSY PRIVATE GROUP with a the line “you're never too old to…” . You are a pretty adventurous bunch!   Now, I have been known to lay in bed at night desperately trying to fall asleep when my brain goes into overdrive! It can bring dark thoughts like working out how much longer I might have to live!!!!! Then I get morose about "wasted time"! By this time I am feeling pretty sorry for myself and having regrets! BUT……… a few years ago I worked out that I could either spend my life feeling sad and waiting to shuffle off ...
Why making mistakes is no bad thing and can make your life even better The word “mistake” can often lead to fear of  either making one or feeling silly because we made one. But the thing is we've all made them. Its no coincidence that the sayings “to err is human” or “live and learn ” are used so frequently! Believe it or not mistakes can be a truly positive force in our lives…..honestly! Want to know why? Read on…… Making mistakes shows that we are normal functioning human beings. We all do it. If we didn’t there would be something very wrong with us! Furthermore, if we didn't we wouldn’t be very interesting people as we wouldn’t be trying anything new ever. As George Bernard Shaw stated;    “A life spent making mistakes is not only more honourable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing”   In reality, making mistakes are a great test of our character and can help us push ourselves to be everything we can be. If we err and endeavour to tr...

FACE MAPPING - WHAT IS YOUR SKIN TELLING YOU?

Helloooooooo! Welcome to the Savvy 'n' Sassy blog today! I hope you are happy and well. We are now firmly into January and there's a chance that your skin, if it is anything like mine, is playing up. I've noticed some spots on my chin and forehead. So that I could find out the root cause of this and deal with it I turned to face mapping . This is a way of analysing skin and has been developed by Dermalogica. I trust the Dermalogica brand and whilst it isn't typically high street priced, it is very effective. This is my own personal view and I am not being paid to mention or review them!  Today the blog looks at face mapping and how it can help you find out what is going on on in your body. What is face mapping? T he face is divided into zones that are linked to the internal workings of your body. Have you ever notice that you get a spot in one random part of your face but nowhere else, or you have a puffy eye and cant work out why?  I always thought when I sto...

Hello! Recently a post went up on the  Savvy 'n Sassy Facebook Group titled " The End of the Jade Goody Effect ". It's message was, I found, mind boggling. MY TOP 3 MANTRAS THAT I LIVE BY – HOW THEY CHANGED MY LIFE AND CAN CHANGE YOURS TOO! A couple of years ago I was having an incredibly tough time. I was sat in Harrods having afternoon tea just before Christmas and chatting to my lovely friend Debbie about people who had wronged me and how it was affecting me. And boy, was it affecting me! That day I realised what a true friend Debbie was. SHE TOLD ME LIKE IT WAS, AND I CAN’T THANK HER ENOUGH. Her straight talking helped me get rid of the demons that had haunted me for years, even decades and has since led me to a much healthier and happier life. So, what exactly what did she say that was so powerful I took it on board and changed my life? I have personalised the words so that when I repeat them they actually relate to me! Number 1 “Only I can be responsible for my own happiness” – admittedly this sounded a little weird at first, after all, we frequently look elsewhere for happiness. Whether it’s seeking pleasu...

THE SHOCKING RISE IN SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES IN WOMEN OVER 50!

Shocking rise in sexually transmitted diseases in the over 50s! What you don’t know CAN hurt you! Don't be blasé! Over the last couple of decades, the medical profession has aimed their STD awareness campaigns at young people aged 16 to 25. Overall it has been successful, however, in many ways it has backfired. By constantly targeting the young there has been a dramatic rise in STDs diagnosed within the 50 to 90 age group. Should we be surprised? Probably not! Staggeringly, it’s not just the easier to treat STDs that are rising such as chlamydia diagnosis which has increased by 75% in the last ten years. Frighteningly the incidence of those over 50 seeking treatment for HIV has increased by 82% since the beginning of the 21 st century. This phenomenon has been ongoing for several years now and doesn’t look likely to stop unless we address the issue ourselves!    Why the rise? Well, there are many reasons that can be, largely, put   down to medical ...
